Beautiful looking area on the Banning Bench, but with all the power outages that go on here and all the added fees on a normal monthly water bill for only my girlfriend and I, I'm starting to rethink my living here. I've only been here a year and have a water bill over $150 every month and they are only open on Tuesday and Friday for three hours on those days, so if you need to talk to anyone, it has to be in that time frame plus I have a bill every month whether I even use any water or not. The cheapest bill I've had was over $90 for a month that I was in another state and didn't even have my sprinklers running. This place is ridiculous! Dried up looking orchards due to the high cost of the water here. It's a shame and I'm really starting to rethink it all now.
Here is my latest update after being here 4 years now. I just received a water bill for $284 and my sprinklers haven't worked in a long time now, nor do I have a leak or running toilet. There's only two and sometimes three people here and we've just had a ton of rain this year but yet they still say that we are in a stage 2 water alert. I don't care if these are volunteers that work for the Banning Heights Water Company or not because somebody is getting paid. Nobody works for free and the people here like myself are getting ripped off badly. This water company is the biggest scam ever and now is offering people to become members involved in hearing about what they are doing in their meetings, if you pay them $20 or more a year!! Shouldn't the people who live up here already be entitled to know what is happening at with their water at all times without this seemingly becoming like what a HOA would do? It was either March or April 2023 that we also had an issue with the water and they sent notices to us saying something to the extent of the water possibly having contaminants in the water, making it less desireable to drink, so I think I may be better off trying to find out if there's water under my property and going to the county to see about digging a well just like some new neighbors of mine just did. They told me here some time ago that I could not drill into the ground because it would be drilling into their water supply and apparently this is the same thing they told a new neighboring homeowner when they also told the her the same thing and she told me she simply went thru the county to do a well. There's got to be water running under me somewhere, because I'm paying through the nose for it and it makes no sense. I need to rid myself of this controlling water company. There's no way anyone should have to pay a $284 water bill for one month when I haven't even watered anything and don't have a pool or jacuzzi. They're simply ripping us off. Update as of 7/31/23..my latest bill was dated 6/4/22 and due 8/4/22!! These stupid people don't know what the hell they're doing! Skiping the whole bill for the month of July and sending me a bill that was due from last year huh? I had found that they had added May's bill amount to my bill for June and also that they had held onto my check which was due by the 5th. I mailed it on the 2nd here in Banning and they did not clear it until the 12th..thereby making my bill late, then tried charging me a late fee on my last bill!! I wrote a note with my last bill telling them what they were doing was ILLEGAL and that it was illegal to hold onto a check and then charge me a late fee. I also asked for copies of my water bills for at least the past seven months to which I recieved no response, but instead recieved a new bill of $89 (dated for last year) without question instead of the $284 bill they said I owed, so I just paid that amount. These people are completely out of control and incompetent. I have not yet gone to the county to see about putting in a well here but need to do that asap. Newest update: As of a January 2024, the BHMWC has now increased our water bills by an extra $20 a month. Ridiculous.
