I considered relocating to the area from out of state and bringing my small business with me. However I need reliable Internet for my business and the short time I have been here I have been out of Internet for two days with zero help from tech or phone support. This is unacceptable for my needs and will be crossing the Iowa lakes and media com off the list.

(Update: I've called support 7 times, each time they claim there is no issue and will send a tech out to verify. Each time, I'm also told there is no Tech scheduled to come out (are they being canceled?). However, a Tech did come to a neighbor's place (small town politics) and I talked to him.....a lightning strike did occur and it fried the in home routers of some locations. This is fine, but why does the phone support lie to me and why wouldn't you ping all the locations on the effected jump to verify your customers are ok? We are all on the same street, why do some customers get immediate service and others are several days without service?). This company is flawed from the top down.

I really hate this company. They’re expensive, they won’t invest in fiber optic, their service is always glitchy and SLOW despite different locations in town (Florida as well for that matter), their hardware sucks so I bought my own, and they’re they’ve monopolized the area for YEARS. Also, their customer service is among the worst I’ve ever seen anywhere for any business.
If there was another actual choice here, I would never pay this company another dime. This is not a criticism of the local employees, just the business and its poor performance quality and lousy business practices.
I hear a new company is coming to town and actually willing to put in fiber optic. It can’t come fast enough. For reference, I lived in LeMars for two years and they had fiber for 60 per month. That was the fastest most reliable internet I’ve ever experienced. I’d love to see Mediacom removed from the area for good someday. I can’t stand the idea that the people of SL are getting screwed over by this slimy company and I say we deserve much better. Eat dirt Mediacom.

Sick and tired of talking to "automated" system. Stupid rules about ownership of account when couples divorce. When someone moves out, the homeowner continues paying the bill--me. Why does my ex have to close the account or switch to my name. We are NOT ON SPEAKING TERMS. Mediacom stinks.

If i could, i’d probably give a 2.5 rating, but 3 will have to do. I’ve had so many issues with the internet speed the last 6 months, i'm lucky if i can watch Netflix without it buffering every 2 minutes. They have tried to fix it multiple times, so A for effort on the part, and i’ve paid for it to be re installed once already, but the internet speed is never consistent. The repair guys are always very friendly and knowledgeable, but the phone representatives are 50/50 when you're trying to solve an issue. I’d give 5 stars to the repair guys, and 0 stars to the internet itself since it is NEVER working.

We went in to set a switch over from a Mediacom cable modem to one we purchased. The customer service rep (Nancy) was most helpful in giving us information and going the extra mile to get us switched over. We agreed this was the best customer service we have ever experienced from Mediacom.

Avoid this company if possible they deserve zero stars. Not only does their internet go in and out on a daily basis but if you end up having a problem, customer service is absolutely horrible. Their app/website doesn’t update after you make a payment so my husband and I both made the same payment on the same day. They ended up taking $300+ from us in one day. After talking to 5 different representatives and getting 5 different answers I was finally told I’d have to wait 10 whole days to ask for a refund since I paid with bank routing # and account #. After the 10 day clearing period we got one payment back but 7 days later it came out AGAIN. We got that payment back and 7 days later it was AGAIN taken from my account. I was told by customer service that they would CONTINUE to try and take it out of my account unless I pay them $35 dollars and then once the payment came out they would be able to finally do a refund This is a bad business and we’re currently searching for other internet options so we can cancel our service with Mediacom as soon as possible.

I was not at all satisfied with my Mediacom service! I called Customer Service because my bill kept going up up up! At that time (a little over a year ago) a very kind lady helped me. I had been paying about $150/ month...then $165/ ....then $170...then $180 ---each month it went a little higher. She looked my bill over and agreed that I was paying way too much. She said I shouldn't be paying more than $130/month.
For the next 3 months it was about $130, then it was back up up up AGAIN! This past month it was $196.89!!! When I called a VERY RUDE lady said it would remain that same amount for the next 12 months!! She would not work with me at all...said there was nothing she could do, (even tho we had been loyal customers since 1984--36 years!)
I reported her lack of coutesy the next day and still got no satisfaction.We promptly disconnected. They treat long time customers very badly!
