We had a water leak due, in our opinion, to a faulty installation of the CCWD automated electronic water meter upgrade on our property in Arnold, CA. We asked CCWD to repair the problem which they would not. We had to make 2 special trips to buy parts and repair it ourselves.
CCWD said to go to their website to submit a claim for reimbursement. We did and submitted a thorough claim form with pictures. What a waist of time to get a flat denial of our claim today with a generic and photocopied denial form with a fake signature. Not even an offer for a one cent. What poor customer service!

THIS CORRUPT COMPANY NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN! Calaveras water district is a SCAM! We have a family cabin in the area and the water has been turned off and no water has been used in years. Guess what? We still get charged a bill every 2 months for $330!! It doesn't matter if your water is turned off and you're not using it, they will still charge you for "access to the water lines." I'll say it again, this corrupt company is scamming people out of their hard earned money. They need to be shut down!!

The ladies in the front office. Well let's just say they don't do a very good job. Example :

When people from our Congressman's office were coming to discuss the the problems of water and Fires going on up here Calaveras county. Well of course they had no meeting on there calendar.
Oops sorry we missed the notice and it had gotten filed I'm sorry about that. As they turned people away no not here you may as well go home. So people did.

Here ya go, just so everyone knows: when you buy a house in this county with this as your water company, you are forced to pay a bill bimonthly (around 300$). You have zero say in having it or not, you cannot cancel service. You can not opt out. Even if you move, as long as you have a deed in your name that has their pipes connected to it, you owe them the astronomical $1900.00 per year! Don't believe me? Try to call and cancel your water. It's hilarious. You literally just sign up for a lifetime of shelling out hard earned dollars to these vultures who have no care for anyone, just their own pockets. On top of that, half the time their water comes out rust red and when you call or email video of it, they insist it's fine to drink. If you also have had problems with this company or hate their policies, they apparently aren't governed by public utilities, they are a "special" sector and only answer to the state of California. So maybe send them a few letters. I'm done putting up with their nonsense.

Rate hikes are hurting the residents of Calaveras county, they are unwarranted and unjustified. This is one of the poorest counties in California

My mother bought a lot for $10k. 2018, in order to get water from existing main shut off valve, she has to pay over $12,000. For a building and water permit, she cant do anything about it. Yes they said it's a private water company and they only deal with the state. Monopoly at it's best. I tried talking with 3 other companies and the all send me back to this nonsense. God bless us all.

I have many numerous attempts to establish service. Their website directs you to go to the office to establish service - their offices are closed to the public. Their phone message tells you to establish service online, which is not an option. There are no options to speak to a human being. I think they are using Covid as an excuse to provide shoddy customer service and avoid the public. They are an essential business and should not be closed down when you are required to go their to establish service. Messages go unanswered. Very frustrating. I used to be able to reach a human when I called, now you just hear the same message, which never tells you that their office is closed to the public. That would be good to know considering they moved their office to the middle of nowhere!

We have had CCWD water for twenty four years and have been very happy with their service. In spite of many severe winter storms at 4,700 feet elevation here in Dorrington, during which PG&E has not delivered power often for one to two days and twice for four days, CCWD has never failed to deliver water. This means they keep their generators running in the worst winter storms. The CCWD staff who maintain the water lines also do excellent work. A tree fell on the power lines in our neighborhood and knocked down two utility poles during a winter storm. In the process of replacing the poles, PG&E accidentally cut through the CCWD water line and damaged the CCWD meters under one of the poles. CCWD came out during the storm and re-established the water and replaced the two water meters under that pole with new meters. We have also found that the staff at CCWD has always been helpful and friendly in answering questions when we have had occasion to call.
